Did you know that many interior signs like lobby signs that may look like they are made of heavy metals and expensive materials are actually fabricated from cost-effective architectural foam?
Architectural foam board and gator foam is a high-density material that is used to make all types of indoor signs and exterior signage, like this foam letter lobby sign for a consulting company located in Irvine, in Orange County CA.
The foam board comes in big sheets that are available in several thicknesses from 1″ to 3″ thick. These boards can easily be cut on a router machine into just about any size, shape, font or logo. Once the foam is cut out in the desired shape, it can be finished in many different ways depending on where it will be installed, and what what the final look is desired. Most indoor signs such as lobby signs can simply be painted with heavy-duty sign paint for a smooth finish. Aluminum faces can also be added to achieve an even smoother face on the sign. For exterior signs, we strongly recommend adding aluminum faces to the foam, as well as applying a coat of stucco to the edges. This essentially seals in the foam and protects the sign against pests and the elements.
All of these surfaces can be painted in custom PMS colors to match your corporate style guide. Digital prints can also be added to the faces of letters and logos if a gradient or other graphic in required.
