If you are in the business of being extreme, then your fleet needs to represent with some extreme graphics like the ones we created for a utility truck for Extreme Doors of Bellflower, CA.
Extreme vehicle graphics are easy to achieve on any vehicle in your fleet from sales vehicles to delivery and installation vehicles. The process for creating extreme yet effective vehicle graphics and vehicle wraps starts with the design. At Iconography Studios, our experienced art department understands the simple yet complex job of creating effective vehicle wraps. Here are the critical steps involved in creating a simple vehicle wrap design that clearly gets your message across, while at the same time making sure it can be achieved on a rather complex 3D surface like a utility truck.
1. SIMPLE CONCEPT – the overall design concept needs to be kept simple on many levels in order to be effective. As most vehicle wraps will only garner the attention of your audience (and it is a very wide audience) for a few seconds, the messaging needs to be simple and clear. Colors should be few and complementary. Text should be kept to a minimum. We recommend limiting text to company name, web address and/or a phone number or a tagline. Any more detail will likely be a distraction and reduce the overall recall rate for your advertisement.
2. COMPLEX APPLICATION – Once the design concept is finalized, the more complicated step of making sure your graphics fit appropriately on your vehicle begins. Many standard vehicle templates are available to help our design team fit your graphics into the size and layout in order to print them on one of our large format printers. The challenge with the vehicle templates is that they are not always exact, and if they are off by an inch or two, that can cause serious problems at the installation phase, such as the last digit of your phone number ending up in a door jamb. At Iconography, we hand-measure every vehicle year/make/model and then modify the templates we have to be a good fit.
Furthermore, for custom or non-standard vehicles such as utility trucks and other construction vehicles, there are no templates. So, our design team must first create the templates by hand by taking exact measurements of the vehicles. We are sticklers about how important layout is to the final vehicle wrap product, so our initial set-up and design process may take a day or two longer than some, but we believe the time spent shows in the quality of our final vehicle wrap products.
